Karate-do means the way of the empty hand. This implies not only the physical aspect of karate, but also the mental and social aspects of karate.
I am a black belt in Yoshukai Karate. My love of karate and kobudo along with my interest in these budoka individuals have inspired me to render their images in a series entitled PORTRAITS OF LEGENDARY KARATEKAS 空手家. This is an ongoing portfolio of portraits of various karate and kobudo masters throughout history. Their legacies, histories and anecdotes intrigue me as I read and learn of their exploits. This online portfolio will show a progression of my mixed media drawings that I hope to collect in a printed portfolio at a later time.
